Humanities Montana Offers Community Reading and Conversation Series
Humanities Montana announces the availability of a new, state-wide program, Reflect: Community Readings and Conversations, which is available to any non-profit or governmental group in the state.
The Reflect program provides trained facilitators to work with groups who would like to step back and think about their values and choices. A Reflect facilitated conversation focuses first on a short, thought-provoking reading and gradually opens up onto larger questions about civic engagement, service, and community values. Each program or series of discussions is specifically tailored to a local group's needs. The Reflect program has been used by communities facing divisive issues, non-profit boards, and leadership and service groups.
Communities and groups are encouraged to apply for a Reflect program. Program sponsors will be asked to fill out a simple one-page application, provide a venue for the discussions, and help in publicizing the event. Humanities Montana will provide reading and publicity materials and a facilitator who will consult with the sponsor on topics and approaches.
Humanities Montana's Reflect program is supported by a federal grant from the Department of Education, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. |
