The 2013 Letters About Literature state winners were:

Level 1 — grades 4-6

  • First Place — Zoe Ellis Wilson of Sussex School, Missoula wrote to Robert McCloskey, author of Blueberries for Sal, Time of Wonder and One Morning in Maine
  • Second Place — Connor King-Ries of Sussex School, Missoula wrote to Sandra Cisneros, author of The House on Mango Street
  • Third Place — Anna Cook of Whitefish Middle School, Whitefish wrote to Pam Munoz Ryan, author of Esperanza Rising

Level 2 — grades 7-8
