At Humanities Montana we believe:

  • Our kids are our most valuable resource. That's why we provide over 50 different free programs to schools throughout the state—programs on current affairs, Native American culture, literature, Montana history and more;
  • We need to understand our past and present in order to create our best future. That's why we support local historical museums, libraries, and other cultural centers;
  • Communities are strengthened one conversation at a time. That's why we created special programs on civic engagement and civil discourse—we sponsor town hall meetings, community discussions, dialogues in high schools and roundtables online.

For 40 years we've been providing programs for Montanans. Download our annual report (PDF) to read testimonials to our impact.

Help us serve more communities—more kids, more teachers, more parents, more leaders. Last year we saw dramatic increases in applications for grants and programs. Help us answer that need.

"I recall speaking to a man from France at the Montana Festival of the Book. He was simply amazed to see such enthusiasm for writing and reading, among the mountains and canyons and spectacular emptiness of this land.... That is why this Festival is so invaluable to our region and why it deserves our fullest support."

— Robert Wrigley, poet
