DESCRIPTION:The Roxy Theater in partnership with Indigenous Film Festival and Missoula Urban Indian Heath Center is proud to present the Indigenous Cinema Series, a weekly series in November intended to highlight indigenous stories in honor of National Native American Heritage Month. The objective of the Indigenous Cinema Series is to acknowledge and honor the presence of our American Indian community within Missoula and Indigenous peoples across the world and to be witness to their resilience as a people as displayed through a contemporary medium of storytelling.\nThe first film screening as part of this series will be: Words from a Bear\nWords from a Bear examines the enigmatic life and mind of Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Navarro Scott Momaday, one of Native America’s most celebrated authors of poetry and prose. The film visually captures the essence of Momaday’s writings, relating each written line to his unique American experience representing ancestry, place, and oral history.
