SUMMARY:Taking Action with Julie and Stephen Edwards
DESCRIPTION:\nJoin the folks over at ImagineIF Libraries via Zoom for part three of their non-partisan Civic Literacy class, led by Montana Conversations speaker Julie Edwards of Niche Academy and Stephan Edwards from the University of Montana. The duo will explore “Taking Action” in our complex political system.\n\n\nAt its heart, our political system is designed to foster balance, debate, and participation. But it can be daunting to get involved and feel like what we are doing is having an impact. This session addresses a core question: how do we take action and make a difference?\n\nZoom Meeting ID: 893 1229 9085\nPasscode: 068422\n\nPresenter Bios:\n\n\nJulie Edwards is a librarian and instructional designer with Niche Academy. She’s worked in public and academic libraries across the United States, authored numerous articles and books, and taught Library and Information Studies at the University of Botswana as part of a Fulbright Fellowship. She’s passionate about how libraries help people build individual and community assets.\n\nSteve Edwards is currently the Student Success Coordinator for the University of Montana’s College of the Arts and Media. A UM alum, Steve also holds a Master’s degree in History from the University of Connecticut, a Master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology from Brandeis University, and a Graduate Certificate in Environmental Conflict Resolution from the University of Montana. A twenty-year veteran of higher ed, Steve has taught American history, civics, and natural resource policy at institutions big and small, and has worked on the ground in communities across the west fostering dialog on natural resource issues.\n\n\n
