SUMMARY:The Language of Poetry with Melissa Kwasny
DESCRIPTION:\nJoin a Montana State University Billings poetry class for this virtual presentation hosted by Professor Tami Haaland. Poetry provides a language for the “interior life”: our feelings, dreams, thoughts, perceptions. It does this through careful attentiveness to the image, on which the imagination is based. In this generative workshop, Kwasny works with teachers who are interested in integrating poetry writing into their curriculum. Through writing prompts and sample poems, both contemporary and traditional, students are asked to work closely with the sensory image to craft poems about experiences important to them.\n
