Fourth Annual Michif Heritage Keepers Music, History, Culture, and Art Festival
Mitchif Heritage Keepers hosts their annual Music and Art Festival to celebrate and perpetuate the unique history, culture, and traditions of the Metis in Montana from the buffalo era to the present day.
The three-day event is held in Choteau, Montana, and features workshops and demonstrations led by published writers, award-winning speakers, educators, and respected elders. Friends and relatives meet to share stories, enjoy cooking demonstrations, dance, and play music. Vendor booths feature Metis traditional as well as contemporary arts and crafts.
The 4th Annual Michif Heritage Keepers Festival will provide traditional Metis dance instructions accompanied by a fiddler and guitar player, a presentation on Metis music, a presentation on traditional Metis food, and a workshop on the Michif language.
The event is free and open to the public and is sponsored in part by an Opportunity Grant from Humanities Montana.
