Seeking the Good Life in a Digital World with Julie Edwards and Marisa Dia-Waian
CANCELLED
Join Julie Edwards, a librarian in public and academic libraries, and Marisa Diaz-Waian, founder and director of Merlin CCC, a public philosophy nonprofit based out of Helena, for a Think & Drink conversation about the good life in a digital world. Does the internet help us become more connected and engaged? Or does it manipulate and make us miserable? Can it help cultivate community and positive change? Or does it foster small thinking and the status quo? In this boundless sea of information, we will talk about how to navigate the tides so that we can flourish.
At this event, we’ll explore Stoic conceptions of the good life and different ways to approach the internet—especially information we encounter on social media—so that we think critically about our role in the information ecosystem, what sorts of things are in our control (or not), and how we might best position ourselves to “stay on course.”
