Beneath the Medicine Line: A Northern Montana History before 1889 and Iron Dreams: Montana and the Pacific Railroad Surveys of 1853
Humanities Montana welcomes Austin Haney to the speakers bureau! Haney’s two programs, “Beneath the Medicine Line: A Northern Montana History before 1889” and “Iron Dreams: Montana and the Pacific Railroad Surveys of 1853,” are available through the Montana Conversations and Speakers in the Schools catalogs. In “Beneath the Medicine Line,” Haney takes his audience on a journey back in time to discover some of Montana’s lesser-known tales and the people who made them possible. In “Iron Dreams,” Haney presents the story and immediate aftermath of the Stevens surveys through Montana in 1853–1854. Both programs are available as Montana Conversations or Speakers in the Schools presentations!
As a reminder, Humanities Montana is accepting program applications for presentations starting now through October 31, 2024.
Wilderness as Place, Science, Culture, and Philosophy
Humanities Montana speakers John Clayton and Marisa Diaz-Waian have created a new program, “Wilderness as Place, Science, Culture, and Philosophy,” which is available through Montana Conversations. In this presentation, Clayton and Diaz-Waian bring participants into their own ongoing exploration of wilderness in order to discuss the values that inform relationships with the wild, its physical expression, and its future. To emphasize the connection to nature, this program is implemented as a walk-and-talk adventure outdoors. Visit the Montana Conversations catalog to book this program in your community!
