Teens in Geraldine Organized a Small Free Library

The Democracy Project soft launch option is for libraries that want to build a teen audience. This program runs from January 2027 – May 2027 and comes with a $500 stipend. A full project is not required. Cohort librarians meet monthly to share ideas on engaging teens. The program looks different at every library based on community needs. If you are looking to expand youth engagement this is a great way to do it, in community with other librarians.

In Geraldine teens organized a small, free library as part of their soft launch. In Boulder teens collected 65 lbs of plastic waste from irrigation ditches.

I love when we share resources in our zoom calls. I also enjoy that we help each other brainstorm when we have challenges in our groups or projects. I enjoy that Democracy Project allows me to empower teens to act in civic matters.”
