2025 Revenue Sources and Expenses
In 2025, Montanans in all 56 counties continued to benefit from the public funding and support of the National Endowment for the Humanities’ Federal-State Partnership.
Humanities Montana’s work is most effective when supported through a public-private partnership. Federal funding, combined with the generosity of foundations, businesses, and individual donors, allows us to bring humanities programs to communities across Montana with local leadership, transparency, and accountability.
In 2025, changes to federal funding significantly reduced the resources available to state humanities councils, including Humanities Montana. While a portion of that funding has since been restored, federal support remains uncertain. Continued investment from donors and partners is essential to ensuring that Montanans in every corner of the state continue to have access to free, high-quality humanities programs.
