Grant Opportunities – Next Application Deadline is December 1, 2024
Humanities Montana’s deadline for community project grants and public humanities research fellowships is December 1. Mini-grants will continue to be provided with a rolling submission deadline.
Community Project Grants provide support for requests between $2,000 and $10,000. Eligible projects include book festivals, conferences, exhibits, lectures, media projects, museum assistance, oral histories, panel discussions, planning for humanities programs, public debates, reading and discussion programs, workshops, podcasts, and other innovative ideas. We are especially interested in humanities projects that reach a broad Montana audience and provide engagement opportunities for rural, youth, and Indigenous communities.
Public Humanities Fellowships provide a maximum award of up to $4,000 for research, writing, and public presentations between April and September 2025. Humanities Montana awards fellowships to a broad range of scholars, both non-traditional and those affiliated with a university or college. All proposals must include a public program component.
Mini-Grants of up to $2,000 support humanities projects that need modest funding and a quick turnaround. Humanities Montana requires applications to be submitted at least four to six weeks before scheduled project activities. The number of such grants awarded is limited.
Applicants must talk to Humanities Montana staff before applying for any of these grants. Staff will help determine project eligibility and guide interested organizations through the application process.
More information and our grant guidelines can be found on the relevant grant pages on our website.
