Humanities Montana staff traveled to the annual Montana Library Association conference in Great Falls for two presentations. The first was an author talk and conversation between One Book Montana Youth author, Janet Fox, and Ellie Newell, Head of Youth Services at the Bozeman Public Library. They discussed Janet’s award-winning middle grade book, “The Mystery of Mystic Mountain.” The audience had wonderful questions for Janet about the Montana history and setting in the novel as well as the exploration of identity and adventure. Janet is available for classroom and library visits. You can reach her at: janetfox3@gmail.com

The second was an envisioning session for the award winning Democracy Project. Longtime Democracy Project librarians from the Conrad Public Library presented their experiences and the audience spent some time in conversation envisioning the future of this highly successful teen civic education program. Humanities Montana is grateful for the ongoing support and partnership of the Montana State Library staff. State Librarian, Jennie Stapp and Lifelong Learning Librarian, Bobbi deMontigny shared ideas alongside librarians from Polson, Columbus, Ft. Benton, and Bozeman.

Humanities Montana is also happy to share that our current Montana Poet Laureate, Allen Morris Jones, delivered the keynote at the conference. Book a Poet Laureate presentation here.
