Kim Anderson, former director of programs and grants who retired in 2022, returned as interim executive director in January. In June, Humanities Montana welcomed its new executive director, Jill Baker.
Governor Greg Gianforte appointed a new Montana poet laureate: Chris LaTray (Métis) of Frenchtown. Humanities Montana onboarded the poet laureate to the speaker bureau and will co-sponsor him to travel the state alongside the Montana Arts Council.
Karen Reiff (Great Falls) and Tim Wilson (Roscoe) were elected to the Humanities Montana board of directors. We said goodbye to Francine Spang-Willis (Bozeman).
As a statewide council, Humanities Montana staff initiated several outreach trips visiting rural and tribal communities in eastern Montana and along the hi line. Several rural communities were served by Humanities Montana programs and grants for the first time.
