Humanities Montana Produces a Democracy Project Short Film
Humanities Montana produced a short film about the reach and impact of the Democracy Project, a teen-led, non-partisan civic education and engagement initiative in its 4th year. The Democracy Project has been situated in 26 libraries across the state since 2019.
The Federation of State Humanities Councils awarded the Democracy Project a Schwartz Prize for exemplary public humanities programming. This is Humanities Montana’s seventh win.
Montanans in all 56 counties benefited from the public funding and support of The National Endowment for the Humanities’ Federal State Partnership. Humanities Montana served 11,098 students through 491 Speakers in the Schools programs. 6,120 Montanans attended one of 188 Montana Conversations programs. 61 grants totalling $207,528 were distributed across Montana in support of community-driven humanities projects.
As part of a special National Endowment for the Humanities funding initiative, Humanities Montana was awarded a National History Day grant in partnership with Montana State University in Bozeman
Listening sessions regarding grants were held in rural and tribal communities across the state.
