One Book Montana Youth Author Janet Fox Speaks to Students
As we approach the mid-point of One Book Montana, the statewide read, youth author Janet Fox has taken her middle-grade novel, the award-winning “The Mystery of Mystic Mountain” on the road. Fox has made presentations and visited schools and libraries in Bozeman and Big Timber and has plans to continue her travels to Missoula, Helena, and other towns across the state.
The book explores themes of community, connection, and identity which resonate with the target audience of 5th – 8th graders. Librarians and teachers can use the book to teach core values of understanding and belonging. It’s about more than just a treasure hunt! Fox loves getting into the classroom and hearing directly from kids, especially when they imagine possibilities for a sequel alongside her.
“The Mystery of Mystic Mountain” was chosen as the Great Reads from Great Places youth selection to represent the Montana Center for the Book, a Library of Congress affiliate center for the book, at the National Book Festival in Washington, DC.
