“Dr. Lanny Real Bird delivered an outstanding presentation to approximately 115 4th graders at Daly Elementary in Hamilton Montana. From the moment he began, he fully captured and maintained student engagement through a dynamic combination of storytelling, cultural insight, and interactive instruction. His stories were highly relevant and helped students connect meaningfully to both language and the broader cultural context. He presented in a way that was both accessible and compelling for students. His use of the immersion method was particularly effective, as students were actively involved in learning and practicing Plains Indian sign language rather than passively observing. Overall, a highly valuable enriching experience for our students, and we welcome the opportunity to have him return in the future.”
