Montana Poet Laureate, Allen Morris Jones at Elk River Arts and Lectures, Livingston
At the end of 2025, the Susan Scott Heyneman Foundation provided critical support that allowed Humanities Montana to continue the Montana Poet Laureate program, presented in partnership with the Montana Arts Council, and bring Poet Laureate Allen Morris Jones into schools, libraries, and communities across the state. In early 2026, the program also gave us an important opportunity to begin restoring our Speakers Bureau programming following the federal funding cuts of 2025.
Following Allen’s keynote at the Montana Library Association conference, MLA President Sean Anderson described his work as “a practice in mindfulness, deep thought, and a love of Montana that surfaces the details and nuances of life in the West.” We are deeply grateful to the Susan Scott Heyneman Foundation and the Montana Arts Council for helping us continue this program at an important moment for Humanities Montana and bring these conversations to communities across the state.
Libraries, museums, schools and community centers can book Allen Morris Jones through the Our Montana Voices speaker bureau.
