Year One Program Locations

In 2021 the Democracy Project was launched as a pilot program in three sites: Billings Public Library, Missoula Public Library, and Whitehall Community Library. Inspired by the Teens Leading Change program at the Los Angeles Public Library, Humanities Montana set out to create a version of this teen-led, non-partisan, civic engagement initiative across the state. Democracy Project is always situated in libraries. Libraries are the heartbeat of our rural communities and provide community support in a variety of areas. They are the quintessential democratic institution where citizens can freely access information, technology, cultural enrichment and community connection.

Open to people 13-19 years old

Free to participate

Librarians interested in the next round of the Democracy Project are welcome to fill out a Survey of Interest.
