One Book Montana Statewide Read Events in the Flathead Valley
One Book Montana, the statewide read launched in October by Humanities Montana has taken off in the Flathead Valley! Award winning author Chris LaTray visited Flathead Valley Community College in early November and spoke to a packed house of approximately 150 people about his memoir, “Becoming Little Shell: A Landless Indian’s Journey Home.” The discussion was largely led by participant questions. The author also met with the FVCC faculty book club. Currently there are several book clubs reading the book and discussing it together including a Whitefish School District Faculty book club and an upcoming public book club at the Whitefish Community Library which will begin in January.
The Moran family attended The Northwest Montana History Museum book club where they answered participants’ many questions about Métis culture and heritage.
Chris LaTray will return to Kalispell on February 23 for a culminating public celebration arranged by the Flathead County Library. Stay tuned for location and details.
